Logistics and network

Shipping to Zambia.

Consignments for Zambia move Sea to Dar es Salaam, then road on the TAZARA corridor to Lusaka, about 1,900 km; or via Beira or Durban. Typical transit is 12 to 18 days to port, 7 to 12 days road; discharge at Dar es Salaam, Beira or Durban, then road. We quote Ex Factory or FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva, with payment by LC at sight or advance, USD.

The grid runs at 50 Hz with 400/230 V low-voltage supply and 11 kV and 33 kV distribution; 66 kV, 88 kV, 132 kV and 330 kV transmission. Distribution is operated by ZESCO; Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) on the Copperbelt, regulated by Energy Regulation Board (ERB). Import conformity: Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) compulsory standards for electrical products and ZABS marks (ZS 688 for cables); pre-shipment verification where applicable.

Full specification and gallery

The power transformer line closed the last gap in the chain. Between distribution and power class we now cover 16 kVA right through to 20 MVA — a span very few regional manufacturers hold on a single site.

The standard substation build is 33/11 kV, Dyn11, ONAN, with an off-circuit tap changer at +5% to −10%. Where the network needs voltage regulation under load we fit an on-load tap changer at +5% to −15%, and where the load profile justifies forced cooling we supply ONAF with a rated output at each cooling stage.

  • Climate and site: Plateau at 1,000 to 1,400 m, 35 °C dry season; altitude derating applies.
  • Built to IEC 60076 for 50 Hz, with insulation levels for the 11 kV and 33 kV distribution and 400/230 V secondaries; temperature-rise limits and cooling sized for the stated ambient and altitude.
  • Fittings, bushings and tap-changer ranges follow the utility specification (ZESCO; Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) on the Copperbelt); type-test certificates from CPRI or ERDA accompany the offer.
  • Documentation: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, test certificates and the import conformity certificate where Zambia requires one.
