Logistics and network

Shipping to Nepal.

Consignments for Nepal move By road from Haryana through the Sunauli or Raxaul-Birgunj border, about 1,100 to 1,300 km, 4 to 6 days door to door; sea-land via Kolkata or Visakhapatnam for containerised cargo. Typical transit is road: 4 to 6 days; sea via Kolkata: 10 to 14 days; discharge at Birgunj dry port (Sirsiya ICD) or direct road delivery. We quote Ex Factory, FOB Kolkata or delivered-at-border on request, with payment by LC at sight or advance, INR or USD.

The grid runs at 50 Hz with 400/230 V low-voltage supply and 11 kV and 33 kV distribution with 33/11 kV substations; 66 kV and 132 kV sub-transmission. Distribution is operated by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), regulated by Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC). Import conformity: NEA technical specifications and type-test certificates; Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) for marked products.

Full specification and gallery

ACSR is the workhorse of Indian overhead distribution and transmission. It is also one of the two products that lets us quote a complete line package — tower, conductor, pole and transformer — rather than a part of one.

The table below is the IS 398 (Part 2) basis we manufacture and test against. One caution worth stating plainly: IS 398 Part 5 publishes the same codewords with resistance around 2–3% lower and breaking loads 2–3% higher. Mixing rows from the two parts is the easiest way for a utility QA engineer to catch an error, so we quote Part 2 throughout and say so.

Frequently asked.

How long does delivery of ACSR Conductors to Nepal take?
Manufacturing time depends on the rating and quantity and is confirmed with the quotation; shipping is road: 4 to 6 days; sea via Kolkata: 10 to 14 days via Birgunj dry port (Sirsiya ICD) or direct road delivery. Inspection before dispatch can be arranged for your representative or a third-party agency.
What documents and certificates come with a consignment to Nepal?
Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, routine test certificates per unit or drum, and the import conformity paperwork: NEA technical specifications and type-test certificates; Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) for marked products.
Which standard and voltage class do you build to for Nepal?
IEC 60076 and related IEC standards for 50 Hz, with 11 kV and 33 kV distribution with 33/11 kV substations, or the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) specification where one is issued. Indian Standard designs with IEC equivalents are also accepted on many schemes.
