The grid runs at 50 Hz with 415/240 V low-voltage supply and 11 kV and 33 kV distribution (grid code nominal levels 330, 132, 66, 33 and 11 kV). Distribution is operated by Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the eleven DisCos (Ikeja, Eko, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt and others), regulated by Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC); NEMSA for installation safety. Import conformity: SONCAP: a Product Certificate (PC) and a SONCAP Certificate (SC) issued by a SON-appointed agency before shipment, presented at the port; transformers are a stated SON testing focus.

Full specification and gallery

Distribution transformers are the highest-volume line on the campus — around 900 jobs a month across the full IS 1180 rating ladder, from 16 kVA agricultural units to 1000 kVA industrial supply.

Standard build is Dyn11, ONAN, 11/0.433 kV or 33/0.433 kV, with off-circuit tapping. But almost nothing here is fixed: vector group, impedance, tapping range, winding material, fittings and efficiency level are all specified by the purchaser, and we build to that schedule rather than asking you to accept ours.

What changes for Nigeria.

  • Climate and site: Hot humid coast (Lagos, Port Harcourt) with heavy corrosion exposure; dry Sahel north (Kano) with dust and 45 °C ambient.
  • Built to IEC 60076 for 50 Hz, with insulation levels for the 11 kV and 33 kV distribution (grid code nominal levels 330, 132, 66, 33 and 11 kV) and 415/240 V secondaries; temperature-rise limits and cooling sized for the stated ambient and altitude.
  • Fittings, bushings and tap-changer ranges follow the utility specification (Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the eleven DisCos (Ikeja, Eko, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt and others)); type-test certificates from CPRI or ERDA accompany the offer.
