Logistics and network
Shipping to Nigeria.
Consignments for Nigeria move Sea from Nhava Sheva or Mundra to Lagos (Apapa or Tin Can Island), then road. Typical transit is 25 to 35 days; discharge at Lagos: Apapa / Tin Can Island; Onne for the Niger Delta. We quote Ex Factory or FOB Mundra / Nhava Sheva, with payment by LC at sight or advance, USD.
The grid runs at 50 Hz with 415/240 V low-voltage supply and 11 kV and 33 kV distribution (grid code nominal levels 330, 132, 66, 33 and 11 kV). Distribution is operated by Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the eleven DisCos (Ikeja, Eko, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt and others), regulated by Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC); NEMSA for installation safety. Import conformity: SONCAP: a Product Certificate (PC) and a SONCAP Certificate (SC) issued by a SON-appointed agency before shipment, presented at the port; transformers are a stated SON testing focus.
A servo stabilizer holds the output voltage steady by continuously varying a motorised variac, rather than switching between fixed taps. That gives smooth correction with no waveform distortion and no switching transient — which matters when the load is a CNC machine, a medical imaging system or a process line rather than a lighting circuit.
Three-phase units are built as single-variac (all phases corrected together) or three-variac (each phase independently). Specify three-variac where the incoming supply is unbalanced, as most Indian industrial feeders are.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Rated capacity | 1 kVA to 25 kVA single phase; 10 kVA to 5000 kVA three phase |
| Cooling | Air natural (AN) on smaller ratings; oil natural (ONAN) on larger |
| Frequency | 50 / 60 Hz ± 5% |
| Applicable standards | IS 9815, IS 2026 for the internal transformer, IS 335 for oil |
Specifying
What changes for Nigeria.
- Climate and site: Hot humid coast (Lagos, Port Harcourt) with heavy corrosion exposure; dry Sahel north (Kano) with dust and 45 °C ambient.
- Built to IEC 60076 for 50 Hz, with insulation levels for the 11 kV and 33 kV distribution (grid code nominal levels 330, 132, 66, 33 and 11 kV) and 415/240 V secondaries; temperature-rise limits and cooling sized for the stated ambient and altitude.
- Fittings, bushings and tap-changer ranges follow the utility specification (Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the eleven DisCos (Ikeja, Eko, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt and others)); type-test certificates from CPRI or ERDA accompany the offer.
- Documentation: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, test certificates and the import conformity certificate where Nigeria requires one.
